The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new active agents and vaccines.
The digital transformation has become a central challenge in both the science and administration of the HZI. Rapid technological development is revolutionising the way life science research is conducted and how we organise the administration of a research centre. Above all, digitalisation offers great opportunities and possibilities for new insights and better work results. However, digitalisation also creates major challenges for HZI employees in dealing with digital tools and in areas such as information security and data protection. The Digital Office is a newly established department that is currently being set up. It requires creativity and a willingness to shape the future, as well as being possible.
The department's main tasks are to coordinate the HZI's digital health activities, to create and implement the fields of the scientific digitalisation strategy and to implement the administrative digitalisation strategy. For this task, we are looking for innovative minds with a desire to shape the future.
Tasks
- Analysis of research processes and the data used at the HZI
- Design, development and continuous advancement of research data management with metadata concepts, interoperability approaches and from the point of view of data reusability
- Design, development and maintenance of a corresponding central infrastructure for research data management at the HZI in close cooperation with colleagues from the DO and the HZI locations
- Advising researchers in the field of research data management
- Establishing exchange formats and decision-making bodies
- Networking relevant internal and external stakeholders
Prerequisites
- Completed academic university or master's degree in a subject suitable for the performance of the tasks (e.g. STEM subjects)
- Expertise and several years of experience in the field of research data, research data management, research information systems and data repositories
- Knowledge of relevant interoperability standards at the semantic and technical level
- Good database knowledge and knowledge of a common database language (e.g. SQL)
- Basic programming knowledge in a common programming language (e.g. Python, Java)
- Very good knowledge of English and German
