The Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH) is looking for a personal referent for the institute's director as a maternity and parental leave replacement.

The Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH) Greifswald is a branch of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI). Here, we research the connections between the health of humans, animals and their environment. Our goal is to better understand zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance and the evolution of pathogens, thus contributing to the prevention of pandemics. Founded in 2021, the institute, with its international and interdisciplinary teams in a total of five research groups, is a beacon for innovative One Health research in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany, directly on the Baltic Sea.

As a scientific advisor to the institute's management, you will support the director, Prof. Dr. Fabian Leendertz, and the scientific and administrative staff. You will be part of an international team. You enjoy communicating and interacting with cooperation partners and international guests and live this way of working. You are keen to take on the challenge of getting involved in the varied and dynamic work of the HIOH and to work in a team- and solution-oriented manner.

Tasks
  • Supporting the institute's management in strategic and project-related tasks
  • Project management and coordination of ongoing projects
  • Preparation and creation of decision-making bases for the institute's management
  • Scientific reporting
  • Support for financial and personnel processes in third-party funded projects
  • Press and public relations (especially maintaining the institute's homepage and social media accounts)
  • Organisation of scientific conferences and workshops
  • Preparation and follow-up of meetings, lectures and events
  • Collaboration in the development of project proposals and concepts
  • Communication with international cooperation partners
Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed university or master's degree; preferably in law, natural sciences, economics, social sciences or public administration
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Strong communication skills, goal-oriented approach to work, ability to work in a team, willingness to innovate and interest in actively shaping processes
  • A high degree of teamwork, flexibility, independence and personal responsibility
  • Very good oral and written communication skills
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Strategic, conceptual and target-oriented thinking and action, as well as independent task completion and a structured way of working
  • The ability to think for yourself, learn quickly and solve problems imaginatively
  • Knowledge of the self-governing structures of non-university institutions and/or universities
  • Experience in science communication, outreach and social media is desirable
Working hours

30 hours per week
