The Immune Signalling department is looking for a laboratory manager / technical assistant.

The HZI, Germany's largest non-university infection research centre, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and therapy of infectious diseases. Bacterial and viral pathogens, their interplay with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines are the focus of our research.

Information about the working group
Our research in the junior research group of Dr. Herhaus focuses on cell homeostasis, intrinsic and extrinsic cell immunity in pathogen infections. We are interested in deciphering mechanisms of innate immunity regulated by autophagy, for example, using cell culture techniques and mouse models. We are associated with the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre 1177 on selective autophagy (www.sfb1177.de). In addition, we aim to better understand cell-cell communication through extracellular vesicles and their influence on immune regeneration. Furthermore, we are interested in deciphering the molecular mechanisms by which pathogens use cellular membranes and organelles, in particular their contact sites, for pathogen spread and survival. We offer the opportunity to work on exciting projects in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary and international team, embedded in the excellent scientific environment at the HZI with direct access to state-of-the-art technological facilities.
