The Viral Immunology Research Institute (VIRI), headed by Prof. Dr. Luka Cicin-Sain, is looking for a technical assistant.

The HZI, Germany's largest non-university infection research centre, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and therapy of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new active agents and vaccines.

The VIRI department at the HZI consists of 15 employees. We study viruses from the herpes and coronavirus genera and the immune response to these viruses. We work, among other things, with human samples from epidemiological or clinical collaborations, with infectious and genetically modified viruses in safety level 3 laboratories, and with in vitro and in vivo infection models. Based on these findings, we also work on the development of innovative vaccine concepts.
