The Laboratory for Early Immunity (ELIM) is looking for a technical assistant.

The HZI, Germany's largest non-university infection research centre, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and therapy of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new active agents and vaccines.

The Laboratory for Early Childhood Immunity is a new junior research group that will be established in 2024. The group's research focus is to understand how the immune system functions in newborns and children. Historically considered immature, current studies show that the infant immune system is fundamentally different, adapted to the needs of the developing organism. The aim of the research group is to characterise this immunological ‘otherness’, especially in the gut, and to use the findings to develop improved oral vaccines for infants and children.
