The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) is the first institution of its kind in the world to combine research on ribonucleic acid (RNA) with infection biology. Based on new insights from its strong basic research programme, the institute aims to develop innovative therapeutic approaches to better diagnose and treat human infections. The HIRI is a branch of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig in cooperation with the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) and is located on the Würzburg medical campus.

Tasks
As a speaker, you are integrated into our globally networked research environment and our excellent administrative services. You support the institute's management in important strategic and operational projects and processes, help to establish and maintain collaborations, and coordinate internal commissions and committees.
They use their biomedical or scientific expertise to develop concepts, proposals and expert opinions and support us in preparing and following up on scientific or outreach events, lectures, meetings and appointment procedures.
Prerequisites
- University degree in life sciences or biomedicine; doctorate or several years of experience as a consultant
- Strong interest in the research topics of the HIRI
- Good knowledge of the processes and structures of research institutes and universities
- Ability to grasp new topics quickly and willingness to familiarise oneself with them
- Experience in preparing proposals and expert opinions
- Experience in scientific and administrative project management
- Experience in science communication or journalism desirable
- Excellent written and spoken English and German
- Proficiency in all common IT environments and programmes
- Excellent communication skills and a results-oriented approach to work
- ‘Can-do’ spirit and the ability to think for oneself, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- High level of initiative, creativity, reliability and service orientation
