The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases ever more quickly and effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines.
The Finance and Controlling department is responsible for the financial management of the centre and its facilities. The ‘Corporate Controlling’ team is responsible for budget management and controlling at the HZI and its sites. The main tasks are planning, applying for and accounting for institutional funding, creating the business plan and the proof of use, managing the basic budget including internal accounting (cost and performance accounting, full cost accounting) and controlling all budget funds. The team supports the decision-makers at the HZI by providing information relevant to management. In addition to the preparation and analysis of data and key figures for internal and external needs, a particular focus is on ensuring data quality. The team is responsible for internal and external financial reporting.
Tasks
Performing strategic and operational tasks in the field of controlling, in particular
- designing and developing overarching strategic controlling
- coordinating overarching operational controlling
- designing and developing all financially relevant business/administrative processes
- advising the head of department, management and other shareholders and stakeholders on all financially relevant matters
Prerequisites
- A university degree in business or public administration
- However, interested parties with relevant vocational training in the commercial/administrative field may also apply, provided that they have knowledge and at least three years of professional experience in the above-mentioned field of activity.
- Professional experience in the field of controlling, preferably in a research institution, a public authority or a publicly financed company
- Expertise in finance and funding law
- Knowledge of creating a reporting system
- Good knowledge of English and experience in working with computer-assisted commercial accounting (SAP R/3 if possible) and the MS Office package
- Commitment, analytical thinking, conceptual strength, strong team and communication skills, reliable and systematic work round off your profile
