The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new active agents and vaccines.
The digital transformation has become a central challenge in both the science and administration of the HZI. Rapid technological development is revolutionising the way in which life science research is conducted and how we organise the administration of a research centre. Above all, digitalisation offers great opportunities and possibilities for new insights and better work results. However, digitalisation also creates major challenges for HZI employees in terms of dealing with digital tools and in areas such as information security and data protection.
The Digital Office is a newly established department that is currently being set up. It requires creativity and a creative spirit as well as possible. The tasks of the department, which includes three further staff members in addition to the CDO, primarily involve coordinating the HZI's digital health activities, as well as creating and implementing the fields of the scientific digitalisation strategy and implementing the administrative digitalisation strategy.
Tasks
- Preparation and organisation of events
- Handling correspondence within and outside the department
- Maintaining the intranet using Typo3 and presenting the Digital Office to the outside world
- Organising business trips
- General secretarial and administrative tasks
- Appointment management, mail handling
- Preparatory work for activity and research reports, evaluations, expert opinions, reviews at events (e.g. data collection and preparation)
- Independent development of surveys
- Support with funding applications
Prerequisites
- Successfully completed vocational training in a commercial field or comparable training with equivalent skills and experience
- Interest in digitalisation
- Experience in intercultural communication
- Knowledge of event and organisational management
- Confident use of communication tools (including virtual) and word processing programmes (e.g. MS Office programmes)
- Excellent knowledge of office management
- Very good written and spoken German and English
- Independent and well-organised IT-based way of working
- Confidentiality and loyalty
An advantage for this position:
- Initial experience of the work of institutions in an international context
- Initial experience in agile project management standards
