Change of leadership in Braunschweig

Franziska Broer is the new Administrative Director of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig. Before joining the HZI this month, she led the Administration and Controlling department at the Helmholtz Association’s Head Office. Broer takes over the position from Ulf Richter who became the new chancellor of the University of Siegen in October.

“It is our pleasure to welcome Mrs Broer. We are looking forward to an inspiring and successful collaboration,” says Prof Dirk Heinz, the HZI’s Scientific Director.

Broer studied economics and law at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau. Additionally, she obtained a degree in Consumer Health Care at the Charité in Berlin, before she went to the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine Berlin-Buch as personal assistant to the Administrative Directorate. Shortly afterwards, she became head of the centre's Controlling Department.

She started as head of the Controlling Department at the Helmholtz Association’s Head Office in 2007 and additionally became head of the Administration in 2011.
