The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig contributes one project to the newly established German Ebola-Virus Consortium (Ebocon).
Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and established by the German Centre for Infection Research (DZIF), the purpose of the Ebocon consortium is to find ways to control the Ebola epidemic. The consortium aims to address the major current questions related to Ebola. The sponsored projects cover a wide range of aspects related to the epidemic and are supported until the end of 2015 by a total of Euro 2.3 million in BMBF funds.
One of the projects is coordinated and directed by the HZI researcher, Gérard Krause, who is the director of the Epidemiology Department.
