Third-Party Funds Acquisition

With more than 20 years of experience and expertise as multipliers and service providers, the members of the staff unit Third-Party Funds Acquisition (DA) advise and support the scientific staff of the HZI, the DSMZ (German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH) and TWINCORE (Centre for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research) in applying for externally funded projects.

HZI scientists regularly receive information on current funding opportunities/programs from various national and international research funding bodies. We also support you individually in your search for suitable funding for your project idea.

We provide individual, concrete assistance and feedback on content and structure, prepare budget calculations, give feedback on optimizing the proposal design and on submission modalities for third-party funded projects. Among other things, we prepare formal applications at the request of the funding bodies (e.g. easy-online) in dialog and interaction with the scientists. We also support the submission of project applications in various online portals, such as the EU Funding & Tender Portal and ProMeta-IVF.

As part of this activity, DA also handles application and contract negotiations with national and international research funders and reviews (in cooperation with the legal department), among other things, the forwarding and cooperation contracts.

Research financed by third parties is mainly funded nationally by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers (HGF) and the German federal states. Internationally, the research projects are mainly funded by the EU's research framework program, Horizon Europe. In addition, there are national and international foundations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and funding institutions such as the NIH and Carb-X.

We see ourselves as a service provider for HZI employees at all locations and are always available for a personal discussion!
