The department External Funding Acquisition is looking for a Research Officer to start as soon as possible.

As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the HZI, Germany's largest non-university infection research centre, conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to fight infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines are at the centre of our research.


The HZI is currently launching the pioneering HUMAN project. As part of this newly established programme, we are looking for outstanding specialists to join us on our journey to research the complex interplay between humans and microbes in the fight against infectious diseases. A Research Support Office team plays a central role in this programme and will support our scientists in all aspects of research funding and implementation.
We are currently looking for a dedicated research officer for the Department of External Funding Acquisition (DA).


The External Funding Acquisition team provides individual advice on applying for funding, which can come from national, European or international funding bodies.

Tasks
  • Advising and supporting scientists at the HZI and its sites in the acquisition of third-party funded projects from national, European and international funding organisations throughout the entire application process, preparation and submission of formal applications via various internet-based portals, as well as support for scientists in contract negotiations in coordination with funding bodies and partners
  • Providing target group-specific information and organising information events on current calls for proposals, funding opportunities and funding-relevant topics, developing new formats
  • Networking with national funding and advisory organisations and multipliers/research officers, as well as collaboration in advisory networks
  • Implementation and further development of processes and tools used internally, preparation of reports
Prerequisites
  • Completed studies, ideally in the field of natural or life sciences, preferably with a doctorate
  • Professional experience in acquisition, proposal writing and/or science management and/or project management of third-party funded projects including reporting at a research institution, university or company
  • Knowledge of the national, European and international funding landscape
  • Strong service orientation, very good communication and teamwork skills
  • Independent, goal- and solution-orientated, analytical and structured way of working, ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new topics
  • Fluent in German and business fluent in English
  • Professional handling of MS Office programmes
