The Technical Operations department is looking for a project manager for construction projects at the HZI to start as soon as possible.

As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to fight infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research centres on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines.

The approx. 50 employees of the Technical Operations department are responsible for renovations, new buildings and operation as well as various services such as relocations, outdoor facilities management and workshops on the Braunschweig scientific campus.

The Project Management group is responsible in particular for all renovations, conversions and new builds of the office and laboratory buildings in Braunschweig, Greifswald, Hanover, Saarbrücken and Würzburg. It manages large construction projects as the client's representative and carries out smaller construction projects independently.

Tasks
  • Responsible for the economic planning and realisation of construction measures in the area of science and research
  • Project and construction management of small conversion and modernisation measures
  • Performing client tasks and coordinating and managing internal specialist planners as well as managing external planning offices
  • Advising the scientists in defining the requirements for the building object to be constructed on the part of science (needs assessment)
  • Regular reporting and plausibility checks of reporting to department management, management and finance department
Prerequisites
  • Completed technical university education specialising in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering or architecture or equivalent skills and experience
  • Many years of practical professional experience in the realisation of construction measures for office and laboratory buildings or hospital buildingsGood knowledge of HOAI, VOB and familiarity with RBBau/RZBau and VHBGood knowledge of industry-standard software (office software and MS Project)  
  • Negotiating skills and assertiveness, cost and deadline awareness
  • Open demeanour and solution-oriented work
