The HIRI is looking for a referee to support the Executive Director and the Administrative Management of the HIRI.

The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) is the first institution of its kind in the world to combine research on ribonucleic acids (RNA) with infection biology. Based on new findings from its strong basic research programme, the institute aims to develop innovative therapeutic approaches to better diagnose and treat human infections. The HIRI is a site of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig in cooperation with the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) and is located on the Würzburg Medical Campus.

Tasks

As a referee, you will be responsible for our globally networked research environment and our outstanding administrative service.

You will use your biomedical or scientific expertise to develop concepts, applications and expert opinions and support us in the preparation and follow-up of scientific or outreach events, lectures, meetings and appointment procedures. 

Prerequisites
  • University degree in life sciences or biomedicine; doctorate or several years of experience as a lecturer
  • Strong interest in the research topics of the HIRIGood knowledge of the processes and structures of research institutes and universities
  • Quick comprehension and willingness to familiarise yourself with new topics
  • Experience in the preparation of applications and expert reports
  • Experience in scientific and administrative project management
  • Experience in the fields of science communication or journalism desirable
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German skills
  • Proficient in all common IT environments and programmes
  • Excellent communication skills and results-orientated working style
  • "Can-do spirit and the ability to think on your feet, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • High degree of initiative, creativity, reliability and service-orientation

39 hours per week
