The Finance and Controlling department is looking for a Financial Accounting Administrator.

The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research GmbH (HZI) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, the largest scientific organisation in Germany.

Scientists at the HZI develop strategies to better combat infectious diseases. Their aim is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. To this end, they investigate bacterial and viral pathogens and their interaction with the immune system and research new active substances.

The Finance and Controlling department manages and administers the finances of the centre and its facilities. The finance department carries out financial and asset accounting and prepares annual reports, tax returns and statistics for external recipients. The department also works on projects in close co-operation with scientific institutions and other administrative areas. The Finance team is responsible for external accounting for the HZI. Legal requirements, in particular the legal principles of commercial law and tax legislation, are taken into account. 

Tasks
  • Financial accounting with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger accounting
  • Account assignment and posting of accounts receivable invoices including open item management and dunning
  • Account assignment and posting of vendor invoices including open item management and dunning
  • Processing payment transactions including customer and client enquiries
  • General ledger accounting, in particular bank accounting
Prerequisites
  • Completed commercial vocational training
  • Professional experience in the field of financial accounting and accounts receivable
  • Secure and user-friendly IT skills (MS Office applications and an ERP system)
  • High degree of reliability and diligence
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • English language skills (oral and written) are desirable
Working hours

39 hours per week
