The HZI, Department of Cell Biology, is looking for a part-time team assistant to start as soon as possible.

As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to fight infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research centres on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines.

The Department of Cell Biology consists of 4 research groups with a total of around 25 people. We are an international institute and investigate the interaction of cells with viruses and bacteria using mainly microscopic, biochemical and genetic methods. 

Tasks

You will support the department with a variety of secretarial tasks and responsible administrative activities in the following areas:

  • General secretarial and administrative activities such as appointment management and mail processing
  • Supervision of employment processes for academic staff, scholarship holders and student assistants
  • Administration of the working group's financial resources, preparation of financial overviews
  • Administrative support for national and international third-party funded projects
  • Planning and organisation of business trips in Germany and abroad for department members
  • Organisation of arrival/departure and stay of international guest researchers
  • Organisation of individual lectures and conferences
  • Support in the creation of templates for evaluations and preparation of expert reports
  • Preparation of minutes, management of foreign language correspondence including translation activities 
Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed vocational training in the commercial or administrative sector or comparable training with equivalent skills and experience
  • Very good communication skills in English and German (written and verbal)
  • Experience in intercultural communication
  • Knowledge of event management
  • Confident handling of communication tools (also virtual)
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and SAP
  • Extensive experience in office management
  • Independent and well-organised IT-based way of working
  • Confident and responsible way of working
  • Enjoyment of a service-orientated task

 

Advantageous for this position:

  • Initial experience of working with institutions in an international context  
  • Initial experience of working with institutions in a university or scientific environment
  • Interest in digitalisation in administration
Working hours

19,5 hours per week
